Linda Gabreath Retires After Two Decades
July 9, 2013

The Water District Board of Directors in July congratulated Linda Galbreath on her retirement after 19 years as part of the district’s staff.

During her years of service she worked her way through a number of positions including building maintenance, site maintenance, receptionist, payroll clerk, accounts payable clerk and office assistant.

A banner declaring "Linda Has Left the Building..." was on display during a staff celebration honoring Linda who is a devoted Elvis music fan.

Her reputation for dependability has been so strong over the years that staff knew something wrong if she was not at her post well before the workday began.

Jim Naismith, retired District general manager, recalls that he hired Linda in 1993 on the advice of the late Tom Andrews, long-time District general counsel, after complaining to Tom that he needed to find "someone who knows what clean is." He recalls that it was Adminstrative Services Manager Rebecca Krumnow who recognized Linda's additional talents, moved her out of custodial and groundskeeping duties and put her to work in increasingly more challenging administrative roles.
